Church of the Brethren 300th Anniversary Celebration
In 1708 Alexander Mack and his group of seven followers began meeting in Schwarzenau, Germany. The eight believers were baptized in the Eder River in 1708, after traveling to America the group became known as the Church of the Brethren.
In 2008, the Church of the Brethren celebrates 300 years of worshiping Christ Peacefully, Simply, and Together.

Anniversary Celebration at Rockingham County Fairgrounds
The Shenandoah District will celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the Church of the Brethren on September 5-6 at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds.

Friday, Sept. 5, 2008
7:00pm-- Gathering Music & Singing
7:30pm-- District Worship Celebration--Speaker: David Shumate, 2009 Ann. Conference Moderator & Virlina Dist. Exec.
Following worship everyone is invited to fellowship at an ice cream social.
Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008
9:00am-- Local Service Projects and Historical site tours--Tour sites of local Brethren interest including the Linville Creek Church, the John Kline House, the Tunker House, the Valley Brethren-Mennonite Heritage Center, the Pritchett Museum at Bridgewater College.
1:00-5:00pm-- Celebration at the Fairgrounds--Enjoy district talent at the "Share the Gift Stage", a Brethren Press Bookstore, "A Greater Gift" shoppe, food concessions, congregation and district displays, children's activities, and other exciting events celebrating the faithful past and fruitful future of the Brethren.
6:00pm-- Ken Medem Concert--Enjoy the inspiring and powerful music of nationally known singer and song writer, Ken Medema.
7:00--District Worship Celebration-- Speaker: Jeff Carter, Pastor Manassas CoB
